Understand: Since history deals with complex situations, historical events rarely have a single cause but are usually the result of a combination of factors.

When examining a historical event, there are many points of views that it should be looked at from.



Political: When examining a historical event, one must look at the political conflicts that are involved. When looking at the reasons for war this is very important. How were the politicians handling the situation? Were any new laws passed that may have angered people? What type of government was in charge? Was party was the leader a part of?



Military: When learning about countries were interacting at the time it is important to learn about the countries military. Were they Increasing? Decreasing? Also when learning about a war, looking at the strategies and objectives of the military is crucial.



Economical: Knowing the countries economical stance is important as well. If the country was struggling then it is easier to understand why the politicians may have acted the way they did.

Cultural: Learning about they culture is important too. If you learn about the culture, then you can learn how and why decisions were made as well as their objectives
