"Understanding" Concept 

The study of history can be justified on the grounds that it contributes to our sense of identity, is a defense against propaganda, and enriches our understanding of human nature.

Identity:​

another word for history is culture. Culture is the behaviors and beliefs characteristics of a particular​​ social, ethnic,​​​ or age group. Culture encompasses aspects of a person that is related back to and in common with that persons ancestors or people that that person identifies with. Culture is remembered threw and shaped by history. Detrimental events in history can drastically alter cultures. This means that history can also drastically alter the way individuals identify and relate to other individuals and also how they comprehend and see themselves.

Defense Against Propaganda:

Propaganda is the Information, esp. of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view. Propaganda is only effective on ignorant people thou. When people are aware of the truth and the facts and history behind the topic, they are less likely to blindly believe a swayed version of that truth. When people have seeked out and understood history on their own instead of letting it be spoon feed to them by others with agendas, there is a lot less manipulation.

Understanding of Human Nature: ​

History is the evidence of human nature. Patterns are formed in history that helps us prepare for the future. There are people who study the past as a career in order to face the future. A common concept that is popular on TV right now is "behavior analysis". As a carer, these scientist study habits of violet and dangerous people in order to understand people with strange or abnormal patterns. With this understanding of human nature, we can become prepared.
